Nearly half of Romanians say they do not manage to save money because they do not earn enough, according to a survey made by Novel Research on a sample of 1,200 respondents.
People living in the urban areas, with the exception of Bucharest, set money aside constantly. In Bucharest, inhabitants save money less and only for important things and investments.
Romanians in the rural areas are generally in the category of people who do not have enough money to save.
Most Romanians are very careful with their expenses (70 percent) of whom 24 percent keep a written track. Only 6 percent of Romanians do not know how much they spend or when they spend above their budget.
Women are mostly in charge with the family budget (in 55 percent of the cases).
Nearly a third of Romanians say they do not understand financial mechanisms while 46 percent do not understand the products of financial institutions.
