Although the Romanians’ expectations on economy and revenues varied unsignificantly, due to the inflation drop and VAT reduction, the Romanian consumers’ purchase intention has grown in the third quarter of this year, according to a GfK study.

The purchase intention registered the biggest variation, as at the beginning of the quarter it maintained at the level of previous period, but in September it increased to 12 points. It represents an increase by 6.4 points compared to the second quarter.

After the second quarter with minimum variations, the economic expectations fluctuated during the third quarter, they returned approximately to the same level as the end of the previous quarter.

September closed to the value of 6.3 points, by almost a point than the end of the second quarter, but by 5 points over the year-on-year value.

The expectations on incomes also registered a small decrease at the beginning of the third quarter and then sticked to the level of 24.2 points until the end of the quarter.

The study shows that the EU consumers trust reached the highest level of the last 9 years.

The consume tendency of population of the 28 Eu member states analyzed in the study continued the increased tendency, closing the third quarter to almost 21 points.

Rolf Bürkl, consumption expert at GfK, said: “Private consume proved to be one of the main pillars of European economy in the last quarter, considering that several countries improved or maintained the purchase tendency this quarter.”
