German B. Braun, the producer of medical devices and pharmaceuticals and supplier of dialysis services, plans to expand its operations in Romania, according to the Ministry for Business Environment, Trade and Entrepreneurship.

At present, the company has its own dialysis centers in Romania and it manufactures infusion solutions. B. Braun has two operational centers in the country.

“During the meeting, the representatives of the companies expressed their intention to expand their operations in Romania. Thus, in the next period, they will start a greenfield investment, which includes the construction of a plant for infusion solutions, the construction of a scientific research and development center with specialized laboratories, as well as the construction of a new logistics center. The new investment will be finished in 2020 and will generate around 250 new jobs,” said the government in a statement.

The minister for the business environment, Alexandru Petrescu, said that B. Braun will receive the support of the government for the new investments.

B. Braun has 5,000 different products, 95 percent of which are manufactured by the company.

Its sales rose by 5.6 percent to EUR 6.4 billion in 2016 versus 2015, while its operations profit gained 20.6 percent to EUR 582.2 million in the same period. The company invested over EUR 800 million last year and has spent close to EUR 300 million for research.
