Dragnea (Chamber of Deputies): Romania should “seriously consider” moving its embassy to Jerusalem

The head of the Chamber of Deputies, Liviu Dragnea, says that Romania should relocate its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem after US president Donald Trump recognized this city as the capital.

Dragnea’s statement came one day after the UN General Assembly voted resoundingly to reject Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel. Romania abstained from the vote.

“There are practical matters, all the central institutions of Israel are in Jerusalem and the ambassador and the embassy staff are commuting from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem,” said Dragnea.

On Tuesday, Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) said the country reaffirms its support for the two-state solution in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
