Construction permits for residential segment in Romania, up 3.8 pct by May

In May, 3,707 construction permits for residential buildings were issued, a drop of 0.9 percent compared with April and an increase of 1.5 percent compared with May 2015, said on Wednesday the officials of the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

In the first months of this year, 14,724 permits were issued for construction permits for residential buildings, an increase of 3.8 percent compared with the same period of the last year.

Increases were also registered in developing regions: West (231 authorizations), North-West (190), North-East (84), Centre ( 72), South-West Oltenia (53) and South Muntenia (22).

Decreases in the number of permits were issued for construction of residential buildings in Bucuresi- Ilfov (- 92 permits) and South-Est (-21).
