The Competition Council announced that it sent inspectors at headquarters of the insurance companies Omniasig Vienna Insurance Group and Generali Romania Asigurare Reasigurare, as well as of the company Aon Romania Broker de Asigurare-Reasigurare, over suspictions of market fixing practices in the aviation insurances sector.

“The goal of the Competition Council’ investigations was the possible breach of the national law and the EU Functioning Treaty by Aon Romania Broker de Asigurare-Reasigurare, Aon UK Limited, Generali Romania Asigurare Reasigurare S.A., Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. United Kingdom Branch, Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. and Omniasig Vienna Insurance Group,” said the Competition Council.

“The documents taken during the inspections are analyzed by the Romanian Competition Council within the procedures for the investigation,” says the anti-trust body.

During their actions, The Competition and Markets Authority in the UK assisted the Competition Council, developing the information request procedure at the companies’ headquarters from the UK.
