EU regional policy commissioner, Corina Cretu, approves investments of over EUR 57 million in potable water field in Caras-Severin county.
„EU, through the cohesion policy, makes investments so that every citizen has access to clean and healthy water and, at the same time, to protect the environment,” said Cretu.
The project includes, among others, the construction or rehabilitation of over 120 km of the potable water distribution, the rehabilitation of 20 basins and the expansion of sewage network by over 160 km. It will contribute to the environment protection, especially by limiting the used water leakage into the soil in an area where are living close to 138,000 persons. Moreover 19,050 citizens will benefit for the first time from continuous access to qualitative potable water.
