Cisco’s tablet Cius arrives to Romania

Cisco has launched today the Cius tablet in Romania, ‘a tablet for the corporate environment,’ according to the company.

The tablet runs on Android 2.2 and it combines voice, video, and cloud computing/desktop virtualization capabilities for the enterprise environment.

“Cisco Cius is not sold in retail networks but via the 12 authorised partners of Cisco in Romania.  The price of a tablet is USD 725 but the price can vary function of the contract or the number of tablets ordered by each company,” Cisco officials told Business Review.

The Cisco partners in Romania are Crescendo, Cronus, Datentechnik, Eta2u, Frontal Communication, IBM, Intracom, Kernel Control, Romtelecom, S&T, Soitron and Telelink.

Cisco Cius weighs 520 grams and has a detachable eight-hour battery.The tablet has a 7 inch-display, an Intel Atom processor of 1.6 Ghz, 1 GB RAM memory and a storage capacity of 32 GB.

Its capabilities include Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n), 4G data, and Bluetooth. It also includes HD video (720p) with Cisco TelePresence systems and EX Series interoperability for video communication.

“More and more personal mobile devices- smartphones or tablets- enter into the corporate environment. The greatest challenge is to integrate them securely into the IT system of the company. Cisco Cius is a tablet that can be easily integrated in any IT system, offering network security and access via data center to SaaS applications,” says Calin Poenaru, Systems Engineer Manager Cisco Romania.
