Balance of credit to companies, households down by 0.1 percent in June

The balance of credit to companies and households is down by 0.1 percent in June compared to the previous month but it records a 1.2 increase year-on-year, up to RON 217.50 billion, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) informs.

Non-government loans granted by credit institutions fell in June 2016 by 0.1 percent (zero percent in real terms) compared to May 2016, up to RON 2017.594 billion. The RON-denominated loans went up by 1.2 percent (1.4 percent in real terms), while loans in foreign currency expressed in lei decreased by 1.7 percent (expressed in euros, forex loans decreased by 1.9 percent). On 30 June 2016, government credit increased by 1.2 percent (1.9 percent in real terms) year-on-year, based on the increase by 16.2 of the RON component (17.0 in real terms) and of the decrease by 12.5 percent of the forex currency component expressed in lei (expressed in euros, forex loans decreased by 13.4 percent).

Government credit increased in June 2016 by 0.1 percent, compared to the previous month, up to RON 90.992 billion. On 30 June 2016, government credit increased by 3.7 percent (4.4 in real terms), year-on-year.

The broad money supply (M3) recorded a balance of RON 295.067 billion at the end of June. Compared to the previous month, it increased by 1.5 percent (1.7 percent in real terms) and in year-on-year the money supply increased by 13.1 percent (13.9 in real terms).
