Mihai Rotaru has decided to quit the Clever Taxi CEO position and he will be replaced by Andrei Frunza, the former CEO of eJobs.
In recent years, Mihai Rotaru has managed to turn Clever Taxi into the largest taxi service in Romania, with over 20,000 drivers and more than one million users, built exclusively with Romanian resources.
Mihai Rotaru will remain in the company until September 2018 to ensure an easy transition to the new CEO, Andrei Frunza. Previously, Frunza was the CEO of the eJobs Group, the leader of the online recruitment services market, and recorded the best results in the history of the company. Frunza will officially take over at Clever Taxi in September 2018.
“The constant growth from year to year has positioned Clever Taxi as the most popular and used transport application in Romania, which has led to one of the largest exits in the local mobile market. So I decided to take a break. We’re happy to find Andrei after months of searching. I am proud of the inheritance I am leaving: a market leader, worth over EUR 100 million in yearly trips and a beautiful team that has done something unique,” says Mihai Rotaru, CEO Clever Taxi.
Clever Taxi was founded in 2010 and is the first e-hailling application in Romania to allow for cash or card payments. With one million users and over 20,000 registered drivers, Clever Taxi has had a significant impact on urban mobility in Romania. Clever Taxi has over 50 employees and is available in over 20 Romanian cities.
In June 2017 Clever Taxi was bought by Intelligent Apps, a group formed in 2009 and part of Daimler Mobility Services. The same group includes mytaxi (available in 9 European countries), drunk (in Greece, Peru, Chile and Colombia) and Clever Taxi (Romania). The whole group has 16 million users in 14 countries and 100 cities, Intelligent Apps being one of the largest transport companies in Europe.
