ANAF head says tax collection went up after implementation of measures backed by government

The president of the National Agency of Fiscal Administration (ANAF), Bogdan Stan, says the priorities agreed with the government have been fulfilled and the increase of the total amount of collected taxes proves this. In addition, Stan said that the ANAF has to manage with a smaller budget and lack of investments in critical infrastructure.

Stan’s reaction came after the head of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Liviu Dragnea, suggested that the new government should replace the current management team of ANAF.

The head of ANAF says that he informed the former PM Sorin Grindeanu on March 6 about the fulfillment of ANAF objectives, a necessary conditions to ensure a budget that allows the maintenance of a specialized personnel system and the vacant places occupancy of around 3,000 at that time, from the overall 28,000. On the other hand, ANAF showed the Finance Ministry agreed the strong decrease of the investment budget of the institution and the decrease of the salaries budget by RON 200 million.

„Also the ANAF president requested the Government’s support several times via official addresses to promote as fast as possible the legislative measures proposed in the fiscal area and some legislative measures in HR protection that activate in this sector of high risk. Also the ANAF president constantly informed the PM on the poor state of current servers infrastructure and stock units of data centers of ANAF, formed mainly of equipments that are at their end of life cycle,” said the ANAF representatives.

The ANAF estimations indicate an increase of tax collection of RON 3.83 billion in the second quarter of this year compared with second quarter of 2016 (108.1 percent) and the completion of 100 percent of quarterly program of collected tax amounts, respectively a surplus of RON 0.3 billion. For the next six months of the year a growth of the overall tax collection by RON 4.47 billion is forecasted compared with the same period of 2016, reaching 104.6 percent.

„The profit tax collected on the first quarter of the year was higher by RON 300 million, although in the first quarter of the year, 7,524 contributors entered the category of taxpayers with declaration term and payment of taxes on July 25,” added the agency.
