Investments in construction sector are boosting ELCO’s business

The construction sector recorded a spectacular growth this year, animated by the fiscal compensations introduced at the end of last year as well as by the low cost of financing. The sector as a whole grew by 17.8 percent in the first four months of 2019 – the best result recorded in the last 10 years.

According to the National Institute of Statistics, the most spectacular growth was recorded in April 2019, when the total construction sector increased by 33.4 percent compared to the same month of 2018.

The expansion of the construction business has fueled an increased demand for heating products made by ELCO, the German heating systems brand that is part of Ariston Thermo Group’s portfolio. Most of the demand came from the area of office buildings and logistic spaces. According to ELCO representatives, the commercial boiler market has been steadily increasing in recent years, due to new constructions and the replacement of outdated boilers. The demand for commercial heating solutions recorded an increase of about 20 percent last year, and the growth continues in 2019. On the Romanian market, the ELCO product range includes condensing boilers, with a power range of up to 2 MW, providing efficient solutions and heating systems for commercial and residential spaces.

“ELCO’s range of heating products includes intelligent energy saving technologies which are designed to meet individual project requirements and are ideal for commercial, industrial, administrative and residential buildings including offices, shopping centers, hospitals, hotels, and stadiums. The commercial boiler market has constantly grown over the past few years and we strongly believe that this trend will continue in the future,” said Catalin Draguleanu, Country Manager of Ariston Thermo Romania.

The business segments with the highest growth rate for ELCO are both new office buildings and rehabilitation projects. One of the most important projects carried out last year by ELCO was replacing the heating equipment for one of the largest banks in Romania, which involved changing the heating systems of 250 subsidiaries and replacing them with high energy efficiency equipment.

“This year we will continue to see high demand for intelligent commercial heating solutions, which ensure durability and maximum reliability over the equipment’s entire lifespan and integrate perfectly with BMSs (Building Management Systems) of new constructions. At the same time, the “green building” segment continues to steer growing interest among developers, due to energy performance certificates (e.g. BREEAM), a category into which the ELCO condensing boilers fit effortlessly because of their high energy efficiency,” added Catalin Draguleanu.

In 2018, ELCO completed several important projects, such as The Bridge – Building 2, with over 800 kW, or Globalworth – Campus 2, where ELCO boilers produce over 1,000 kW. Other leading projects for the company are Day Tower, with an area of 12,000 sqm and a demand of 1,100 kW, the Altex logistics warehouse in Dragomiresti Vale, with a surface of approx. 90,000 sqm and a requirement of 1700 kW or the SuinProd production hall in Iasi, with a total demand of 2,200 kW. There are over 1.7 million ELCO products installed in Europe and among the world class projects in the company’s portfolio are the Sochi Olympic Village, Perfect Administration Residence in Beijing, Lyon City Hall and Opera House, Beijing Olympic Village, Parkstad-Limburg Stadium in Kerkrade, Saint Mary’s Hospital in Ludwigshafen, EuroAirport Basel, and more.

The most sought after ELCO condensing boiler model in 2018 was Trigon XL, which represents a significant step forward in heating technology. With extremely flexible configurations, a clever design and a wide range of available outputs, the boiler is perfect for a variety of commercial applications. The ELCO product range includes the wall hung boiler Thision L Eco (in the power range 70-100-120 KW) and the floor standing models Trigon XL (in the power range 140-540 kW) and Trigon XXL (in the power range 650 kW – 2 MW). A competitive advantage is represented by the premium services provided by ELCO throughout the product’s life cycle, from consultancy and specifications to after-sales and maintenance, through its network of service partners available at national level.
