The government has decided to continue with the adoption of the draft budget revision, arguing that it had fulfilled its obligation to request the opinion of the Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT).

Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici said he will propose to the Government today the adoption of the draft budget revision in the form published by the ministry and without waiting for the CSAT opinion.

According to Teodorovici, the legal basis for the adoption of the revision in the absence of the CSAT opinion is the Constitutional Court’s 15/2015 decision, which states that it is sufficient for the Government to request this opinion.

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, in turn, asked for the declassification of the CSAT meeting where the revision was discussed and which was suspended by the president, who announced that a consensus could not be reached in the CSAT to issue the necessary opinion on the budget revision and therefore considers it necessary to rectify the budget, suspended the Council meeting to allow the Government to prepare a new draft.

Today, President Klaus Iohannis sent a letter to the prime minister inviting her for consultations at the Cotroceni Palace on Thursday to clarify some issues related to the revision of the state budget of the institutions responsible for national security for 2018, urgent issues of particular importance, and the ministers are also invited to this meeting.

The premier Dancila announced, instead, that she will be away on an official visit to Spain on Thursday.
