Romania’s ex-finance minister Sebastian Vladescu posts bail in gold bullion in corruption case

The former ministry of Finance Sebastian Vladescu posted a bail of 3 kilograms of gold ingots, property and money in bank accounts valued at EUR 1 million in corruption suspicion case, according to Romania’s anticorruption body (DNA).

Vladescu is accused by DNA prosecutors of two bribery offenses and other offenses.

According to DNA, the former minister deposited RON 1 million and EUR 100,000 at a bank unit and created real collateral of 3 kg of gold ingots (valued at EUR 109,740 euro) and real estate collateral valued at EUR 488,640.

He also established real collateral on amounts of money in several bank accounts up to the value of the bail imposed by prosecutors.

Vladescu, a former member of National Liberal Party (PNL), served twice as ministry of Finance in 2005-2007 and 2009-2010.
