The Romanian president Klaus Iohannis rejected on Friday to promulgate the 2019 budget bill voted in parliament and called it “a national shame.”

“PSD ruling has failed. In hospitals, there are so many problems. The education is underfunded. (…) In justice, the entire PSD ruling period was an assault on the rule of law in Romania. PSD is incapable of governing Romania. PSD does not govern for Romanians, PSD rules for Dragnea,” Iohannis said.

The president said that the government proposed a 2019 budget is “a national shame” and that it is “unrealistic and overvalued.”

The president indicated that he will notify the Constitutional Court because there are some unconstitutional parts in the budget bill.

Last week, the Chamber of Deputies has amended the budget bill by increasing the budget deficit from 2.55 percent to 2.76 percent of GDP in 2019, in order to support the increase of child allowances.
