Finance minister Eugen Teodorovici announced on Thursday that he has handed the prime minister a proposal to replace Fiscal Administration (ANAF) chief Ionut Misa, claiming that the institution needs a new strategy and must change the way it interacts with taxpayers.
Teodorovici also said that 2019 will be full of challenges, especially in the economic area, and that the ANAF needs to “radically change its behaviour in the economy” through a change of mentality and a more honest relationship with taxpayers.
“ANAF needs to prove that it has an active and fair role in its relationship with the business environment,” the minister said.
Lately, Teodorovici has expressed disapproval of ANAF head Ionut Misa’s approach to leading the institution, by pointing out issues like the insufficient collection of taxes – however, Misa claimed the opposite and staid that the ANAF had the best results in its history.
