BCR launches the drawing contest “School of well-raised money” and invites schools in Romania to register and win the prizes at stake. The contest comes as a continuation of the storybook “School of well-raised money” Vol. II, written by Cristina Andone and launched in June.

“Through the books in the ‘School of well-raised money’ series, I tried to talk to children about money and how we relate to them in our lives in a fun, playful and age-appropriate way. And because I believe that stories can become reality, I was happy to hear about BCR’s initiative to look for a real ‘School of well-raised money’ in Romania and bring the subject of financial education to even more children, and teachers as well”, says Cristina Andone.

The contest takes place between October 5 and November 15 and is addressed to students aged between 6 and 11, who will represent the school where they study. The mechanism consists in the registration by each school of the 12 most successful drawings made by its students, on the contest website. Drawings must follow one of the three themes:

  • Saving for my dream
  • My first piggy bank
  • How does money help us

The 10 finalist schools will be selected by a jury consisting of Cristina Andone (author of the book “School of well-raised money”), Sebastian Oprița (illustrator of the book “School of well-raised money”), Claudia Oprescu (coordinator of BCR Money School project ) and Ana Nicolescu (Mămica Urbană blogger), taking into account visual composition, chromatic harmony and originality. The collages with the chosen drawings will be reunited in an album on Școala Banilor Bine Crescuți Facebook page, where they will be voted by the public, and the school that will get the most likes from the public and the highest score from the jury will be designated winner.

The prizes consist of free financial education books and workshops for all finalist schools, held by the book’s author, Cristina Andone, and Money School teachers. The winning school will receive the title of “The School of well-raised money”, as well as the following prizes: books for all students in the school aged 6 to 11, 20 books “School of well-raised money” for the school library, the setup of a “financial education corner” inside the school (shelves / library for books, beanbags, coffee tables, chairs, piggy banks, financial education materials and books) and the exhibition of the winning drawings in the nearest BCR branch.

“I have been collaborating with Cristina since last year when she launched the first volume of the book ‘School of well-raised money’. We thought it was a great idea to take things a step further and find another interactive way for the little ones to talk about money. The easiest manner for children to assimilate is through games and stories. A competition in which they are the authors of visual stories is the best way to help them learn that you can do a lot of things with money, not only buy toys or ice cream”, says Nicoleta Deliu, project coordinator of BCR Money School project.

Registrations can be made between October 5-26, directly on the website www.scoaladebani.ro/concurs, and for more details, all teachers interested in enrolling their school can consult Regulations here.
