Romanian PM’s control body to investigate Metrorex payment for Drumul Taberei metro line

The Control Body of the Romanian PM Viorica Dancila is investigating the way in which the contracts for the building of the Metro line 5, Drumul Taberei – Eroilor metro line were run. In addition, the Control Body of the Minister of Transport is investigating the circumstances that led to the project’s developers being paid RON 188 million in compensation by Metrorex.

The Control Body of the Romanian PM Viorica Dancila is investigating the way in which the contracts for the building of the Metro line 5, Drumul Taberei – Eroilor metro line were run. In addition, the Control Body of the Minister of Transport is investigating the circumstances that led to the project’s contractors being paid RON 188 million in compensation.

According to a court decision, Metrorex must pay compensation to the association Astaldi -FCC Construction SA and Delta ACM 93 SRL, AB Construct SRL for requests made between 2011 – 2015.

Metrorex is now taking all steps to pay the RON 188 million debt (approximately EUR 40 million) set via a court decision in 2017, which is final and cannot be overturned in 2018, without interfering with the firm’s activity,” the company representatives said in a statement.

Metrorex also took the opportunity to say that the trains are traveling in conditions of safety. “The society respects the regulations and the norms currently in force. Both Metrorex, and the institutions with a role in controlling activities on the safety of travel are continuously checking that the procedures are followed, and the incidents that occur while the trains are running are being investigated by the Romanian Railway Investigation Agency – AGIFER.
