The project “Solidar Social” is a humanitarian action initiated by Adi Hădean Foundation together with the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Sector 6 (DGASPC Sector 6), along with dozens of volunteer chefs who prepare daily warm meals for vulnerable people in the fight against Coronavirus: doctors and medical staff from Bucharest hospitals and elderly in isolation.

The “Solidar Social” team started its activity yesterday, 1st of April 2020, delivering lunch to doctors and medical staff of the Matei Balș Infectious Diseases Hospital and Colentina Hospital and will continue to deliver warm meals, at least 5 days a week, to Covid Bucharest hospitals and to the elderly isolated in the records of DGASPC Sector 6, as long as it is needed.

For now, the capacity of preparation and delivery is 1.200 portions of warm meal per day, and this thing is made possible due to the volunteers, donations made by Macromex that provide most of the necessary ingredients, as well as donations received from individuals. Delivery is ensured with the cars offered by Autonom, complying with all safety protocols.

“Solidar Social started out as of necessity. There is a need for great social solidarity during this period when our country is being tested. And as each action has a reaction, we have chosen to react this way, not to stay on the edge but, to the contrary, to try to help with what we know how to do better: feeding people. We are talking about the people who need the most a daily warm meal: doctors, medical staff at Covid hospitals and the elderly in isolation who are unable to provide themselves food. I and my team need everyone’s contribution in creating mechanisms that work perfectly, because there is no place for half-measures. Making 1.200 portions of warm meals is not easy, we already have partners who support us enormously and we try to attract many others for whatever they can help: food, donations, logistics, protective materials, volunteering. ” – Chef Adi Hădean.

Long-term, the Adi Hădean Foundation aims to develop this humanitarian project throughout the country, to attract the participation of as many volunteers and companies as possible and thus to provide relief through food to those in need.
