100,000 meals cooked by the volunteer chefs team led by Chef Adi Hădean, in 5 months of the CSR campaign “Solidar Social”

At the beginning of September, the threshold of 100,000 meals prepared for vulnerable people in the fight against Coronavirus was reached, in 5 months of CSR campaign Solidar Social, the social project initiated by Chef Adi Hădean and the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection in the 6th Sector, with the participation of more than 100 volunteers, 17 chefs and over 20 drivers.

“100,000 meals are an impressive result that has behind it the work of a volunteer team which is not as numerous as one might think taking into account this huge effort. First of all, I want to thank them, the 100 volunteers who kept the “fire burning” during these 5 months. If we talk in numbers about Solidar Social, I will also tell you about the 87 tons of cooked food, the 11,574 kilometers traveled for delivery, the 55 sponsors and the over 50 donors.” Says Chef Adi Hădean.

Solidar Social campaign evolved with the pandemic, so as to help where the greatest need was. Thus, in the first 3 months after the state of emergency was declared, efforts were made on providing the hot meals to medical staff at Covid Hospitals in Bucharest (Matei Balş Infectious Diseases Hospital, Fundeni Clinical Hospital, Colentina Clinical Hospital) and to people vulnerable in isolation, in the 6th Sector in Bucharest. When the state of emergency ended, the focus was moved towards serving the social cases in the 6th Sector, followed by the coverage of the other sectors and the expansion at national level until the end of this year.

Most of the resources needed to carry out the campaign were constantly provided by these major sponsors: Edenia, a brand from Macromex portfolio and one of the main supporters of the campaign, Nordic, PepsiCo, Penny, Unilever, Hochland, Univer, Orkla Foods. The cooked food is transported in compliance with all safety protocols, with a fleet of 5 vans offered by the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection in the 6th Sector.
