Alice Nistor (Continental): Helping people learn social media skills is creating new ambassadors for the company

As we managed to be named The Most Desired Employee in Romania and in the Sibiu area for two years in a row, it is easy to see how important is for us the employee engagement part. Being the Most Desired employer forces us to be just as good in the years to come, said Alice Nistor, Employer Branding Continental at the fourth edition of Working Romania organized by Business Review.

”Attracting and retaining talent is very important to us. Every year we think about what else we can do, what we can come up with to be more attractive. According to studies, a great credibility for the employee is the opinion of those working in the company. It also matters how we present ourselves on social media and other channels, but how our employees see us is very important”, says Alice Nistor.

” Therefore, for several years we have been thinking about a concept of Employee Advocacy, which, I think, has not been implemented anywhere in Romania. Today, we have employees who represent us as ambassadors in schools, universities, etc., a program with carefully chosen employees. But as we are also present on social media through other employees, there are many voices of the people that are not necessarily brand ambassadors. But each employee is a brand ambassador, even if he is not at the same level as the official ones. That’s why we have a program that helps those who want to learn more about social media and about our company. Through their activity and following, we have a much greater exposure on social media”, says Nistor.

People present on social media have in turn their own followers and they represent Continental whether they want to or not. So the company is helping them with topics that they can process for their own channels.

”We also invest in their training for the social media area, even if many employees are young and digital native, we also have less familiar employees, for whom there are learning courses. Including how to increase their visibility. That’s why we have education programs, as well as topics that they can promote on their own pages, from available jobs to videos”, says Alice Nistor.

”After this first level of help for those on social media, we also implemented a concept of Alumni. Thus, when an employee leaves the company he is asked if he wants to stay in touch with Continental through this Alumni program and thus become our ambassadors, who have enough experience to talk about what it is like to work with us. Those who accept also receive a special package created for them and later help for what they need on social media”, says Continental representative.

Why are these programs so important for us? Because the Employee Experience starts even before joining Continental, with someone’s first contact with the company – highly to be happening through Social Media and does not end when they are leaving the company. We believe each former employee is an Ambassador for our #EmployerBrand.
