Hungary’s Wizz Air, the low-cost air carrier, announced on Tuesday it had transported 3.2 million passengers to and from Romania last year, which is a 14 percent increase on the previous year, reports Mediafax newswire.
Internationally, the carrier has transported 13, 5 million passengers, growing by 12 percent year-on-year.
“The Wizz Air fleet comprises 45 Airbus A320s and will grow to 53 in 2014, once new Airbus planes are delivered. The fleet will service a growing network that includes the new Wizz Air bases in Lviv, Ukraine and Craiova, Romania that will become operational in 2014,” said the company in a statement.
It added that existing operations in Bucharest, Budapest, Skopje, Sofia, Vilnius and Warsaw will be extended in the upcoming months.
Wizz Air said its average occupancy rate stood at 86 percent last year. At present, the carrier operates 300 routes in 35 countries.
