Vodafone Romania’s customer base leaps over the 8mln mark at end-June

Telecom operator Vodafone Romania posted service revenues of EUR 177 million for the quarter between April 1st – June 30th of the financial year 2013-2014.

The operator’s service revenue decreased by 4.1 percent on organic basis, as compared to same quarter of the previous year.

If excluded the impact of the mobile termination rates, our service revenue increased, year on year, “ says Inaki Berroeta, CEO of Vodafone Romania.

The company’s mobile customer base increased to 8,138,354 customers at June 30, 2013, representing an addition of 57,064 of customers, quarter to quarter, and an increase of 339,943 of customers compared to same period, last year.

Mobile data revenue increased by 26.3 percent in the quarter as compared to same period, last year.

This quarter, too, we continue to have very strong growth on mobile data revenues, of 26 percent year on year. (…) Overall, we had good results, strongly supported by the adoption of RED packages by Romanian mobile users,” said Inaki Berroeta (in picture), CEO of Vodafone Romania.

The company’s mobile ARPU (Average Revenue per User) reached EUR 6.5 for the quarter, representing an increase of 8.5 percent, quarter to quarter.

As compared to same period last year, the company’s mobile ARPU decreased by 8.7 percent.

At June 30, 2013, contract subscribers accounted for 40.4 percent of the customer base, while users of Cartela Vodafone represented 59.6 percent of the customer base.

Prepaid users in the base increased by 0.3 percentage points quarter to quarter, and by 2.6 percentage points as compared to the same period, last year.
