Vodafone Romania reports the financial results for the quarter ended June 30th, 2014

Telecom operator Vodafone Romania had 8,567,752 customers at June 30th, 2014, out of which 7,985,962 mobile customers and 55,586 fixed broadband customers, representing a decrease of 91,687 subscribers compared to the same period of last year, according to the key performance indicators for the quarter ended on June 30th, 2014.

Mobile data usage increased by 57 percent for the quarter ended June 30th, 2014, compared to the same period of last year.

Service revenue decreased by 9.8 percent on an organic basis, as compared to same quarter of last year following the significant decrease of mobile termination rates, by 69 percent, effective April 1st, 2014.

Excluding the impact of mobile termination rates, Vodafone Romania’s service revenue increased by 2.6 percent, as compared to same period of last year, on an organic basis.

If excluded the MTR decrease impact, service revenue increased by 2.6 percent, as compared to the same period of last year.

At June 30th, 2014, postpaid customers represented 41.6 percent, and prepaid customers 58.4 percent of the total mobile base. The postpaid base increase by 1.1 percentage points quarter to quarter, and by 1.2 percentage points as compared to same period, last year.

Smartphone penetration in the base increased by 5.4 percentage points in the quarter ended June 30th, 2014, compared to same period of last year.

Vodafone Romania reports the financial results based on the British financial year, that starts on April 1 and ends on March 31. The results reported today correspond to the first quarter of the current financial year, 2014-2015.
