Vodafone Romania announced the official inauguration of its Danubius Regional Network Operations Center which caters for several of the group’s divisions in Europe.

The center has two technical headquarters located in the Pipera and Avrig areas of Bucharest.

Starting July 2011, the Danubius center provided services to four networks, Vodafone Romania, Vodafone Italy, Vodafone Greece and Vodafone Germany.

However, over the next two weeks, the center will cater for other three Vodafone networks, Vodafone Netherlands, Vodafone Czech Republic and Vodafone Albania.

The seven Vodafone networks that will be monitored from the regional center in Bucharest cater for over 90 million clients.

The Danubius center counts 250 Romanian engineers who are aged on average 29 years old. The team monitors the 2G, 3G, 4G networks, manages incidents taking place in the networks, addresses the alarms in the territory and interacts with local technical support teams.

The team of the center uses over 200 active applications non-stop.

“That Romania was chosen for running the Vodafone Regional Center is an extraordinary achievement, which honors us and confirms the country’s human and technological potential. The Vodafone Romania network became a landmark in technological excellence, both at European level within the Vodafone group as well as in Romania, as shown by the numerous independent certifications that we obtained over time,” said Inaki Berroeta (in picture), president & CEO of Vodafone Romania.
