UniCredit Leasing profit goes up 15 pct to EUR 5.5 mln in 2015

UniCredit Leasing registered a net profit of EUR 5.5 million from leasing operations in 2015, a 15 percent rise over 2014, according to the company’s financial data.

Due to new transactions closed in 2015, the UniCredit Leasing portfolio increased by 11 percent compared to 2014, reaching at the end of last year EUR 750 million. The funding of second-hand goods doubled over 2014, jumping from EUR 9.7 million to EUR 19.4 million in 2015.

The acquisition value of financed assets in 2015 stood at EUR 338 million, including the volume of leasing operations conducted by UniCredit Leasing Fleet Management, which was EUR 43.5 million. The value of new grants awarded by UniCredit Leasing Corporation was EUR 242.7 million euros.

The vehicles segment hike up 23 percent, while the heavy vehicles rose by 31 percent over 2014. Of all financed vehicles, farming equipment held a 26 percent share in value, followed by construction equipment (20 percent), equipment for the FMCG industry (8 percent) and medical equipment (8 percent).

Operational leasing volumes saw a 30 percent increase over the previous year, with UniCredit Leasing Fleet Management reaching a fleet of 2,650 vehicles.

UniCredit Insurance Broker had intermediated premiums of RON 145 million (EUR 32.44 million).

“Given the economic outlook of Romania, leasing is positioned as a versatile product that supports business development through sustainable investment. As long as confidence in the Romanian economic environment will remain constant, investments will be required, and hence the need for sources of funding for them. This year we expect an increase in the leasing market similar to that of 2015, at about 15 percent,” Antoaneta Curteanu, CEO UniCredit Leasing stated.
