Transgaz appoints four new board members

The Romanian Office of State Ownership and Privatization in Industry (OPSPI) has appointed four new members in the administration board of gas transport company Transgaz, as part of a wider program that aims to name private managers in state-owned firms.

Transgaz should also get a private managers and the Ministry of Economy seeks to select one of the board members to fill this position. Authorities say that private appointments will help the company to meet its strategic goals.

Twelve candidates were shortlisted and the four members were selected on April 5.

Who is joining Transgaz?

Petru Vaduva, CEO of Tiriac Holdings, is board member at the UniCredit Tiriac Bank and Allianz Tiriac. He has a background in banking and investment, spending more than 20 years in management positions at local and international firms including Russia’s Renaissance Capital and British Seb Investment Management.

He obtained a bachelor and master’s degree at The Biochemistry Faculty within Columbia University and holds an MBA from Yale University.

Radu Cernov is partner of the law firm Enescu Panait Pop si Asociatii. He has worked for more than 12 years in the field of regulated industries and governmental relations. Cernov graduated form the Law Faculty, within the Bucharest University.

Mihaela Preda is director of the Insitutional Relations and EU Policy department at OPSPI. She has over 30 years of experience in public administration and in the oil and gas sector. She graduated from the Energy Faculty within the Polytechnics Institute and holds a master’s and PhD at the Faculty of International Economic Relations.

Ion Sterian has been member of the shareholder board in Transgaz for six years and played a pivotal role in the restructuring and modernization of the company. He has worked for more than 20 years in the oil and gas sector.

Sterian is a graduate of the Oil and Gas University in Ploiesti and pursued two courses in International Relations and Financial Management at the Romanian Institute of Diplomacy and the Open Business School Codecs Romania.
