Arrivals at Romanian tourism accommodation establishments rose 8.3 percent in February from the year-earlier month, while overnight staying increased 11.5 percent on the year, data from the statistics institute INS showed Tuesday.
Residents accounted for 80.1 percent of total arrivals at accommodation establishments in February, while foreigners made up for the reminder 19.9 percent.
Most of the foreign visitors coming to Romania are from Europe (79.6 percent) and are coming to Bucharest (82.8 percent), followed by other localities and tourist destinations (10.4 percent) and mountain resorts (4.4 percent).
Border crossings of foreigners to Romania went up 9 percent on the year in February, while Romanian tourist departures aboard increased 8 percent, INS said.
In the first two months of 2014, tourist arrivals at Romanian accommodation establishments rose 4 percent compared with the year-earlier period, while overnight accommodations edged up 4.6 percent.
