Italy’s TerniEnergia has signed a framework agreement with Energhie, a member company of Bissi Holding Group, for the development of six photovoltaic parks in Romania with a combined capacity of 5.5MW.

TerniEnergia Romania will invest EUR 3.3 million in building three PV parks in Buzias locality that should be completed this July. Bissi Holding will develop the other PV parks with a combined capacity of 2.5MW in the Lugoj area, with the building works entrusted to Terni Energia.

Marco Bissi, chairman of Bissi Holding, said: “Romania is a very promising market for us, where we intend to work in the medium and long term, without neglecting the hydropower sector which has always been the core business of Bissi Holding.”

TerniEnergia is active in renewable energy, energy efficiency and waste management. The company is listed on the Italian stock exchange.

The investment comes amid the government’s intention to reduce the incentives for renewable producers. The emergency ordinance is expected to be discussed by the government next week and the cuts could be enforced starting July.

Under the proposed cuts solar would be granted three certificates, out of which one will be suspended through to 2017. Solar producers currently receive six certificates.

Romania reached 118MW of incentivized solar capacities by March, according to grid operator Transelectrica.
