Simona Halep loses to Sharapova in Cincinnati QFs

Maria Sharapova won a match against Romanian tennis player Simona Halep for the 5th time in a row, in the Cincinnati quarterfinal that took place on Friday. With a total length of a little over two and a half hours, the match ended 3 – 6, 6 – 4, 6 – 4 in favour of the Russian player.

 Their quarterfinal was seen as a rematch of the French Open final earlier this year, which Sharapova won after three hours, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-4, to win her second French Open title. The two also contested the final of the Madrid Open, which Sharapova won 1-6, 6-2, 6-3. 

The next big tournament for Simona Halep is US Open, taking place between August 25 and September 8.
