Rompetrol: RON 0.4 / litre price increase on gasoline starting with April 1

The fuel excise tax hike for gasoline and diesel which will come into effect on April 1 will lead to a price increase of RON 0.4 / per litre, according to vicepresident of Rompetrol, Catalin Dumitru., quoted by MEDIAFAX.

“The impact will amount to RON 0.4  per litre, approximately. In the first three months gasoline consumption will drop 1-2% as a result. The consumers will adapt, but it will take two or three months for that to happen”.

Romania’s second largest oil group Rompetrol plans to invest some $100 million in upgrading its local units and building new gas stations in 2014, the official also said on Thursday. The group wants to build 15 new gas stations and 60 other units will enter a rebranding process.

“We will develop the gas station netweork around Bucharest but also in the north-west and south-west of Romania”, Dumitru added.

The group is also interested in entering the petrol market in Turkey, first by trading and afterwards on the retail market.
