Romania registered in June the largest fall of 10 percent in the EU on production in construction , while the euro area and the EU 27 lost 0.5 percent and 1.7 percent against May, according to Eurostat, the European statistics office.
In June, the production fell in ten states and rose in four. Apart from Romania, the largest decreases were registered in the UK, Poland and Germany at 4.7 percent, 2.4 percent and 2 percent. Meanwhile, Slovenia was the lead gainer with 6.8 percent, while Spain, Sweden and France added 1.3 percent, 1.1 percent and 0.7 percent.
Building construction dropped in the euro area and the EU 27 by 0.1 percent and 1.4 percent, while civil engineering lost 0.7 percent and 2.2 percent.
Compared to June of last year, production plummeted in Portugal and the UK by 19.5 percent and 15.5 percent. It fell by 11 percent both in Hungary and Slovakia. Sweden and Germany added 4.6 percent and 3 percent, while Romania gained 0.1 percent.
Building construction declined in the euro area and the EU 27 by 3.2 percent and 5.6 percent. Meanwhile, civil engineering lost 3.8 percent in the euro area and 9.3 percent in the EU 27.
Romania added 7.2 percent in production in the second quarter, after losing 5.1 percent in the first one.
