“Romania, People and Places” exhibition of the artists Sorin Onișor and Bogdan Comănescu is currently available for all those who will pass through the ground floor of the headquarters of the European Commission.

According to the official press release, 40 images reveal to the public the exuberant soulfulness of the simple people, the authenticity of the rural life and the riveting stories of the inhabitants of Romania’s remote or archaic lands. These elements together may strike the viewers’ eyes, sensitize their souls and make them aware of their own values and their gratitude for life. At the same time, it is a national pride to be represented this way at European level, transmitting the values of Romanian people, their traditions, the beauty and richness of the places.

Sorin Onişor, chosen in 2010 as „The Photographer of the Year” by the Association of Photographer Artists in Romania, has over twenty personal exhibitions of photography and more than 40 group exhibitions. “For me, home is anywhere in Romania. This exhibition is about my home and the one of many people who view my photos, but especially about the home of many Romanians living abroad, who follow my work”, stated the artist.

Bogdan Comănescu has learnt the art of photography in Germany, and so far had exhibitions both in national and international level. “The works I included in this exhibition capture fragments of my own life and of the lives of other people that I feel as being part of me. The experiences I lived with them are priceless and the only way I could express these ineffable feelings was through photography”, underlined Bogdan Comănescu about Romania, People and Places.

The exhibition “Romania, People and Places” is hosted at the headquarters of the European Commission in Berlaymont, Piazza (Groundfloor), 200 Rue de la Loi, Wetstraat, 1040, Brussels, but isn’t available for the general public unless they are employees or visitors of the European Commission.
