After taking place in South Korea over the past four years, Romania will host the Electronic Sports World Cup in Bucharest, announced the International Federation of Electronic Sports.
The event will take place between October 31st and November the 4th at the Polivalenta hall. It will reunite 270 people from 46 countries.
The men’s competition comprises two disciplines, League of Legends, with prizes in value of USD 27,000 and Alliance of Variant Arms, with prizes of USD 18,000.
The women’s competition will comprise also two disciplines StarCraft 2 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
Over the past four years, Romania landed on the first three places in the Electronic Sports World Championship.
“After a series of talks on the possibility to organize the event on another continent, but also the degree of accessibility that a European location presupposes, we decided that Bucharest will host the Electronic Sports World Championship in 2013,” said Won-Suk Oh, general secretary in the International Federation of Electronic Sports.
Silviu Stroie, president of the League of Professional Gamers, was appointed a member in the board of the International Federation of Electronic Sports.
