There are around 200 km of motorways under construction at this moment, out of which 55-56 km could be finished by the end of this year, said Renata Bendeac, deputy general manager of road infrastructure at the road and motorway administration company CNADNR, during the second day of the Foreign Investors Summit (FIS), organized by Business Review magazine.

She said that the road agency is working of completing segments on the Sibiu-Nadlac motorway.

The absorption of EU funds is a priority for CNADNR, because EU funds are very important to Romania, being linked to the approval of the Master Plan and the prioritization of it and the main pan-European axis on which we will focus to build the next motorway segments,” said Bendeac (right of picture).

“We are hoping that this year, similar to last year, to have an absorption rate of EU funds really big so that at the end of 2015 to say we took most of the money from the EU commission,” she added.

According to the Ministry of EU funds, Romania has used EUR 1.5 billion worth of EU money in the transport operational program, reaching an absorption rate of 34 percent by September.
