Roaming tariffs might be a thing of the past in the EU, starting July 2014

The European Commission (EC) has proposed a plan for eliminating roaming tariffs in the European Union space starting July 1, 2014. If the bill is passed, telecom clients will pay the same tariffs for calls in other countries as they do in their home country.

This measure is meant to encourage competition and offer more affordable tariffs to the European consumer.

European commissioners expect that the slashing of roaming tariffs will take down the revenues of telecom operators by 2 percent, according to The Telegraph.
