Rewe Romania will open a new Penny Market in Bucharest on Wednesday, the 5th unit of its kind in the Romanian capital and the 151st on a national level, writes Mediafax.
Every new Penny Market requires a EUR 2 million investment according to a press release from the retailer.
“The new Penny Market in the Theodor Pallady neighborhood is the 5th in Bucharest and the 7th in Ilfov County, being part of the company’s plan of opening between 35 and 45 new Penny Market units by the end of 2015”, according to Rewe.
The unit offers a parking lot with 106 spots and has 14 employees.
Rewe Romania is part of Rewe Group, a German tourism and retail group which also owns the local Billa supermarket business. Rewe Group is present in 13 European markets, it employs over 300,000 people and has some 15,500 stores. In 2012 it reported a EUR 49.7 billion turnover.
