Following the tradition set up in the last three seasons by Radio Romania at the Radio Hall, in early May, the National Radio Orchestra invites the public to a gala event: Royal Concert, scheduled in honor of the day of May 10, the celebration day of royalty in Romania. The event will be honored by the participation of various representatives of the Romanian Royal Family.

Friday, May 8, at 7 pm, conducted by Radu Popa – permanent conductor of the Banatul – Timisoara Philharmonic Orchestra, applauded also on important stages abroad – can be listened a masterpiece of the Russian symphonic repertoire: Concerto no. 2 for piano and orchestra – Rachmaninov, considered by experts to be the last great romantic.

“I’m trying to make my musical creations to convey simply and directly what lies in my heart when I compose. I create music because I have to give expression to my feelings, just as I speak because I have to speak my mind,” says in a press release the great Russian composer, pianist and conductor.

Soloist will be pianist Horia Mihail, soloist of the Radio Orchestras and Choirs, one of the most appreciated Romanian pianists of the moment, known by audiences throughout the country especially through his national tournaments: Traveling Piano, Violin Duel (alongside Liviu Prunaru and Gabriel Croitoru), Golden Flute (alongside Ion Bogdan Stefanescu) and George Enescu’s Violin at villages (together with Gabriel Croitoru).

The evening will open, as any such event dedicated to the Royal Family, with Romania’s Royal Anthem, signed by Eduard Hübsch. The second part of the evening proposes a meeting with the Symphony in D minor, the most famous orchestral work signed by Belgian composer César Franck.

Tickets are available on www.bilete.ro, at the Romanian Post offices, in Inmedio stores and Germanos shops and at the Radio Hall ticket office.
