Bulgarian prime minister Boyko Borisov and his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic stated on Friday they are interested in the development of transport and energy infrastructure with Romania, including a highway linking the capitals of the three countries, given that in 2016 a highway between Sofia and Belgrade will be completed.

Thus, Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov on Friday told the joint press conference he had with his Romanian and Serbian counterparts that, with respect to the common infrastructure, he wishes to see a motorway built to link Bucharest, Sofia and Belgrade.

According to Agerpres, he added that the three countries have a great opportunity to join hands in projects to the benefit of all Europe.

“We mainly discussed and agreed upon three things — and we are also ready to sign the documents — which guarantee a better future for the three countries. (…) In terms of infrastructure, my wish is to have a highway linking Bucharest, Sofia and Belgrade,” said the Bulgarian head of the Executive.

He also underscored he hopes the motorway to Belgrade would be completed in 2016.

“We are in a hurry right now to finish the Hemus motorway and also the new mo-torway to link Ruse and Bucharest, and also the Struma motorway heading to So-fia, via Vidin-Calafat, towards the Danube bridge, and this link will give us the op-portunity to reach to the port in Solum, and from there further to the Bosfor, while in respect to Belgrade, it will have thus an exit to the Black Sea. I thank the Serbian PM for working intensely to achieve all this and also for the fact that we could have a speed up to 160 kilometers per hour on this motorway and with all the infrastructure projects that we have in mind, we could reach as further as to Beijing,” said PM Boyko Borisov.

In his turn, according to Mediafax, Serbian prime minister Aleksandar Vucic said that Brussels has approved a Burgas-Varset-Timsoara highway and that he hopes works on it will start next year.

Vucic also noted the need for collaboration in projects concerning the transport on the Danube, while Borisov has proposed the next “Craiova Group” meeting to take place in Bulgaria, at Varna.
