PayU Romania announced the launch of three new online payment solutions on the, which were developed and tested locally and might also be available in the region in the future.

The solutions allow users to pay from their mobile devices, make acquisitions on the internet with a single click or make current payments by default.

There are over 1 million people who pay by card in the Romanian internet and now it is time to bring on board those who still do not pay this way,” said Cristian Herghelegiu, country manager PayU Romania.

Pay On Time allows users to automatise frequent online payments such as bills, insurances, subscriptions to magazines or medical services etc. The payment is made regularly from the clients’ account when the term for the bill or service to be paid is due.

Pay By Click enables users to acquire products with a single click, without going through the usual steps of the regular acquisition process. To use Pay Per Click, online buyers need to be logged in their account with the online store and must have activated the method of payment during a previous transaction.

”Pay On Time and Pay By Click are payment methods that answer both the demand from buyers and online stores for simple and rapid payment solutions,” said Cristian Herghelegiu.

For Pay On Time, PayU is in negotiations with telecom operators but negotiations are expected to take time. „In January 2013, we will have signed some contracts,” said company representatives.

Thirdly, Mobile Payments is an optimized interface for online transactions from mobile devices, which functions irrespective of the degree of optimization of the online store for the mobile.

”The market is moving in the direction of mobile payments,” said Herghelegiu.

Between January and September 2012, the overall volume of online payments by card increased by 38 percent compared to the same period last year. Romanians paid online for products and services in value of EUR 165.8 million. The PayU platform registered transactions in value of EUR 138.4 million.

“We estimate the volumes traded via PayU in 2012 will surpass EUR 200 million,” said company representatives.
