Orange Romania turnover 6.4 pct higher y-o-y in Q2 2015

Orange Romania posted a turnover of EUR 233 million in the second quarter of 2015, a rise of 6.4 percent year on year, according to a company report.

 

When comparing the first half of the year to last year’s results, its turnover of EUR 454 million presented a 1.3 percent increase.

At the end of June, Orange Romania had 10.2 million customers, being on a descending trajectory from 10.5 million in December, and 10.3 million in late March.

Annualised average revenue per user stood at EUR 6.4 in the second quarter, compared to EUR 6 in Q1 2015 and EUR 6.2 in the last quarter of 2014.

On  June 30, 95 percent of the urban population and 67 percent of the total population had access to 4G services of Orange, both inside and outside buildings, and the highest download speeds according to tests conducted by the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications.

Mobile data traffic in the network grew during Q2 by 112 percent year on year, due to higher sales of tablets and smartphones and 4G services expansion. The number of 4G compatible smartphones sold in the first half of this year increased almost threefold compared to the same period last year, while the number of 4G tablets sold was 4.5 times higher.

One in two phones used is a smartphone, according to the Orange data, which represents an 8.6 percent increase during H1 2015 against the same period of last year.

Orange TV continued to attract new customers, including over 221,000 subscribers at the end of H1. Orange’s TV Go application has recorded over 1.3 million downloads or updates to smartphones and tablets.
