Orange Romania saw a 6.4 percent increase in revenues in the first three months of the year against the same period of 2014, to EUR 221 million, if excluded the impact of the regulatory measures, after an increase of 4.5 percent in the last quarter of 2014.
On March 31, 2015, Orange Romania was having 10,364,000 clients, reads a press release quoted by Mediafax.
In the first quarter of the year, mobile Internet traffic doubled compared to the same period last year, amid tablet and smartphone sales growth by 60 percent and by 50 percent respectively, compared to the first quarter of 2014.
Regarding the sales of 4G terminals, the upward trend maintained, being in close relation with the 4G Internet adoption. In March, 4G Internet consumption has increased by 10 times compared to March last year, before the massive expansion of the Orange 4G network.
In the first 3 months of the year, Orange Romania registered an increase by 13 times in the number of users of such services against the same period of 2014, respectively 0,5 million people. Of this total, 30 percent live in Bucharest. Orange currently provides mobile Internet access at 4G speeds to 65 percent of the total population and 94 percent of Romania’s urban population.
Orange is the leader of the Romanian mobile market by number of clients and turnover. Its main competitors are Vodafone (UK) and Cosmote, part of the Greek group OTE, controlled by Deutsche Telekom, owner of Romtelecom in Romania.
