Construction firm Octagon Contracting & Engineering is working this year on four new road infrastructure projects amounting to over EUR 3 million in Romania, expecting this sector to drive growth in the construction industry.
Alexandros Ignatiadis, owner of the construction company, said in a statement that infrastructure is not a priority for public investments this year and the market is not going through a dynamic period.
“However the outlook for infrastructure is positive. Inevitably, after 4 years of stagnation, the infrastructure will be the development engine of the construction market,” said Ignatiadis.
The company is geotechnical construction contractor for one the largest infrastructure projects in Bucharest, the underground road passage developed in Presei Square. Octagon is also executing drilled piles for one section of the Lugoj-Deva motorway. The other two projects include works on a bridge over passing a railway line in Craiova and the rehabilitation of a square in Slobozia.
The firm said it was continuing to overhaul the Brasov-Simeria railway, which was started in 2012.
Octagon has reported a turnover of EUR 19.6 million in 2013.
