Kolektiva, the e-commerce platform division of German group Rebate Networks, will merge with the Zumzi e-commerce website run by Romanian company Neogen.
Calin Fusu, currently CEO of Neogen, will lead the newly created entity, with Rebate Networks as key shareholder.
”Both groups represent, especially from a geographical viewpoint, perfect unity. Following the merger, we will create a strong e-commerce platform that will continue to develop in Eastern Europe. The market still has a strong growth potential that we wish to fuel with the help of an important player in the region,” said Fusu.
Kolektiva currently comprises local e-commerce platforms in several countries: Romania, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Macedonia and Bulgaria. The group generated revenues around EUR 20 million in the fiscal year 2013.
Rebate Networks was founded in 2010 by Michael Brehm, focusing on developing local e-commerce platforms on emerging markets. At the moment, Rebate Networks is present in 15 countries.
Neogen was founded in 2000 and has a portoflio comprising recruitment and e-commerce platforms in Central and Eastern Europe. Romanian platform Zumzi, controlled by Neogen, is present in Romania, the Moldova Republic, Serbia and Bulgaria. The company’s revenues reached EUR 6 million in 2013.
”This merger in Eastern Europe marks another turning point in the growth strategy of our e-commerce platform on emerging markets. For over three years, Rebate Networks has been building web platforms in developing countries in Asia and Eastern Europe, having a strong impact on the e-commerce industry in these countries,” according to Michael Brehm, managing director Rebate Networks.
