The market capitalization of Romanian companies went up by 20 percent to around EUR 20 billion in 2017, while the main market for shares recorded a record capitalization of EUR 35.5 billion, said Lucian Anghel, the president of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB).

Moreover, the total value of transactions recorded on the BVB was up by 24 percent to EUR 3 billion in 2017 versus 2016.

“2017 was a good year (…) We have four public offerings, so new companies on the stock exchange. We are talking about four public offerings. DIGI is the biggest offering of a private company to date, which is extraordinary, fueling confidence that the public offerings will also continue in 2018. It was an exceptional year from the perspective of corporate bonds, some of them dual listed. We are talking about over EUR 1 billion,” said Anghel.

“For investors it was an exceptional year,” added the president of the BVB about 2017.

Meanwhile, the AeRO market, the platform for early-stage companies looking to raise financing, recorded a 47 percent increase of its capitalization.
