Ibis Romania’s network, part of international group Accord, recorded an occupancy rate of 62 percent and 85,600 checkins in the first half of 2014, up 12 percent on the year.

77 percent of checkins represented business trips, and 65 percent of guests were Romanians, followed by Germans, Italians, French and Greek guests, each with 5 percent of Ibis Romania checkins. In the first half of 2014, 28 percent of reservations were done through online channels, 11 percent on the company’s websites and 17 percent through specialized websites (booking.com, expedia.com etc).

Ibis maintained its momentum as an event organizer, with 1,500 conference halls leased between January and June 2014.

“For the remaining part of the year, we estimate we will consolidate our results, for both accommodation and events segments, where Ibis hotels have demonstrated their competitiveness. We expect a moderate increase in the third quarter, especially in the business segment, which provides most of our guests”, according to Ioan David, general director.

Ibis operates 4 three star hotels in Romania: two in Bucharest, one in Constanta and one in Sibiu. The four hotels offer a total of 760 rooms and 24 conference halls.
