Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline extension to Chisinau requires an investment of EUR 110-150 million, depending on the transport capacity, according to preliminary estimations presented in an official document.
The official inauguration of the 43 kilometers Iasi-Ungheni pipeline took place last year in late August. The pipeline was constructed in order to reduce Moldova’s dependence on Russian gas. The investment so far was EUR 26 million, of which EUR 7 million European funds.
EU allocated last year EUR 10 million to extend the gas pipeline to Chisinau.
The section to Chisinau, toting up to about 100 kilometers, is to be built over two to three years.
