Govt. intends to double maximum threshold for acquisitions without public tender

The Romanian authorities will be able to make acquisitions without organizing a public tender in the case of contracts up to EUR 30,000, according to a bill that is being discussed by the government. The maximum threshold was doubled from EUR 15,000.

Also, the participation warranty in the case of the contracts up to this sum has also been eliminated.

These new stipulations are included in an emergency ordinance bill on the legislation of public acquisitions.

These modifications are said to bring about “flexibility and transparency” in the process of attributing public acquisition contracts, given the low absorption rate of European funds.
