Germany is the second most popular travel destination for Romanian tourists, says DZT

Romanians made 583,000 trips to Germany last year, up 14 percent y-o-y, according to data from the German National Tourist Board (DZT). In total Romanians spent 637,882 nights in Germany last year. Over the last six years this was up by 72.4 percent.

Germany has grown to become the second most popular travel destination for Romanians both for leisure and business, said DZT representatives adding that the country offers a great variety of options for tourists regardless of their interest.

The most popular destinations in Germany for Romanian tourists are Bayern, Baden-Württemberg, Hessen, Nordrhein-Westfalen and Berlin. On average, a Romanian tourist spent EUR 558 per trip in 2013. This was down by 15 percent on the previous year.

Tourists from the Balkan region made 1.9 million trips to Germany last year but this is expected to more than double by 2020, according to DZT data.
