US car maker Ford has registered in Romania a net profit of RON 68.8 million (EUR 15.5 million) in 2013 from a loss of RON 480.9 million (EUR 108 million) in the previous year, reports Mediafax newswire.

The company’s turnover has almost doubled in the same period to RON 4.84 billion (EUR 1.09 billion). These results include the sale of cars made in Craiova and the deliveries through dealerships.

The number of employees, meanwhile, has fallen from 3,745 in 2012 to 3,447 at the end of last year, according to data submitted to the Ministry of Finance.

Ford manufactures at its plan in Craiova the B-Max model, which is sold on the European market.

The company has assembled 18,221 cars in the first quarter of this year, covering 19 percent of the total auto production in Romania. The largest share of the production has been exported.

Ford also makes locally two gasoline engines of the EcoBoost family that are fitted on cars manufactured in North America and Asia.
